Hairstylist/Artist
Carlos Dimas was born on October
29, 1960 in Edinberg, Texas. When he was 2 years old, the Dimas
family relocated to Immokalee, Florida. After high school, in 1979,
he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 5 years as a switchboard
operator on the destroyer USS Nicholson 982.
After he was honorably discharged,
he enrolled in Arthur's Beauty School and settled in Fort Myers,
Florida. He felt that he found his calling as a hairstylist; however,
he looked at hair more through an artist's point-of-view.
In 1990, he opened his salon, "Hair by Carlos" and has
employed and trained some of the most promising young talent in
Southwest Florida. He immediately positioned himself in the community
as being ahead of his time as a stylist, always creating an "avant-garde"
look.
Carlos' creativity was not completely
confined to his beauty shop. He found that he also had a flare for
theatrical performance and began showing his works via themed fashion/hair
shows. These shows consist of male and female models boasting his
most up-to-date looks with Carlos as the center of attention. One
of his most creative and unique looks is his Titanic headdress which
is a replica of the ship itself, worn as a headpiece and is made
entirely from human hair and carefully selected, one of a kind,
novelties.
He set a trend in the local grade schools when young men began showing
up with clipper cuts that showcased dinosaurs and lions carefully
cut into the hair on the back of their heads.
As a known figure in his community,
he is proud to, and never tires of donating his time and talents
to such organizations as the American Cancer Society, Locks for
Love, the Organ Transplant Organization, and the Lee County Medical
Society Alliance and Foundation (to name a few).
Some of his greatest accomplishments
are holding the 1997 title of Supreme World Champion from New York,
where he holds a gold, silver, and bronze medal and his current
title of 3rd Place Overall World Champion from the Hair World 2000
Olympics held in Berlin, Germany, where he holds both a silver and
bronze medal.
In 2001, Carlos has taught at Hair America, where he introduced
Long Hair Fashion and Moving Hair, two new looks for the 2001 Olympic
competition. Carlos' accomplishments and Olympic title have qualified
him as a trainer for all Hair World Olympic competitors.
Carlos also serves as a state
educator for Joico and ISO, as well as an international educator
for Berelli in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Miami. Carlos
has also served as a judge at several major competitions, as a platform
artist for Toni & Guy, as well as a personal hairstylist for
over 5 years to Hector Camacho, IBC Super Welterweight Champion,
former IBC Middleweight Champion, and former WBC Champion. During
the late 80's and early 90's, Hector was seen wearing over 100 of
Carlos' now famous creations.
Carlos speaks fluent Spanish and resides in Cape Coral, Florida.

Hairstylist/Artist
Edmund (Hollywood) Ico was born
on on July 24, 1976 in Manila, Philippines. While growing up in the
Philippines, it just so happened that a lot of people cut hair in
his neighborhood. From a very young age, he was intrigued by hair
stylists and would hang around barbershops and beauty salons watching
and learning. At the age of 12, he started to cut the hair of friends
and family members in the Philippines.
When he was 13 he had the opportunity
to live in the United States. He carried his talent with him and cut
all the hair in the neighborhood. In addition, as he met more people
and cut more hair, the word also spread throughout his high school
and all of the students wanted one of his signature haircuts.
After high school he attended Rutgers University for 2 1/2 years and
majored in physical therapy. While attending college, everyone on
campus sported one of his haircuts (that's how he made his pocket
money).
It was then that he realized that he truly had the passion and the
talent to cut hair. He then decided to leave college and at the age
of 18, he enrolled in John Lewis Beauty School in Totowa, New Jersey.
He immediately became the star student of his class in beauty school.
Instructors at the beauty school actually asked him to teach them
some of his unique hair cutting and styling techniques.
After beauty school he was employed
at So Cal Studio in Verona, New Jersey and Pinnacle 2000 in Cedar
Grove, New Jersey. In 1999, he relocated to Fort Myers, Florida and
worked at Danielle Spa. It was there (approximately a year and a half
ago) that he met Carlos Dimas. Carlos was impressed with his incredible
hair styling and cutting abilities and asked him to work at his salon,
"Hair by Carlos".
Edmund and Carlos immediately
bonded both on a personal and a creative level. As Carlos saw Edmund's
work reach higher and higher levels of creativity, he suggested that
Edmund enroll in hair competitions. After only two weeks of training,
Edmund brought home a bronze medal in Ladies Finger Fashion from the
80th Anniversary National Cosmetology Association National Convention
held in St. Louis, Missouri, and a silver medal in the Premier Beauty
Show State Competition held in Orlando, Florida.
Edmund resides in Fort Myers.
His passions are hair, sports, and art. He never has forgotton his
roots and regularly is invited to go back to the Philippines to perform
and to teach seminars. |
